I have a Spartan XUV 500cc 4X4, chinese made, sold in Canada by Chironex. So far great machine however not designed completely for a Canadian winter or Canadian trails. In the winter the heat from the motor is very welcome, however in the summer it is very hot. I used aluminum backed bubble insulation under the seats and under the center console and that seems to work well last summer, now I have removed it for the winter. I also found the radiator exposed to possible damage by branches and added a shield made from aluminum plate with a hole pattern. Both the battery compartment and the gas tank compartment began to fill in with mud so I removed the splash fenders and replaced them with aluminum fenders that were large enough to cover the full space. As the bed of the UTV was metal I built an insert with plywood to protect it from rocks and such. Can send pics by email as I appear to be over my limit on the site. My dealer has supported me very well and an idle problem was resolved immediately. Chironex on the other hand has been totally unresponsive to my emails when I was looking for specific information.

Hi, here is the Spartan 500 imported from China by a Canadian Company called Chironex. I purchased my unit from my local dealer in Thetford Mines Québec. I must let you all know that the dealer is the key, if you have a good one you will have no problems. PS, you can not count on the distributor (Chironex) They don't respond to any questions. In the first month I had one minor problem, I couldn't change from neutral to any other speed. The dealer arrived within 45 minutes, adjusted the idle speed and the problem was solved. Since that time, approx. 1 1/2 years ago I have not had a problem. The changing from Low to High and reverse is becoming softer as I put on the km or miles. I did make some modifications which I thought would benefit me and my vehicle. I added a plywood insert to the box, I changed the fenders, I added a protective grill in front of the radiator and added some heat insulation for the summer. In the winter Iwill remove insulation and enjoy the heat. Here are the pictures.

Hi to all. I have a Kazuma Mammoth 800cc 3cyl beast, and now also a 500cc Spartan XUV that is unstoppable. This will be my second winter with the XUV and my fourth winter with the Mammoth. Both vehicles are chinese made. I hear so many horror stories but I must say I am very lucky. So far so good, no porblems. The Kazuma is a beast, made like a tank, but with the 3 cyl engine is very powerful, smooth and quite. The only problem is that it is too wide to take on trails at 60 inches. The XUV is 48 inches and can go on trails. It is also a brute but because it is one cyl it is rougher and much noisier! Last winter I used it to plow snow, and as you may or may not know here in the NorthEaster Québec we do get lots of snow. This summer I used it to grade crushed rock in my country home driveway. I used the snow plow for this and it worked great. You need to set the shoes on the plow at 2 inches so the crushed rock (half inch to 3/4 inch size) can pass and spread. Just a note, the fan on the radiator ran quite a bit, but the temp was good and it worked very well. Both vehicles are are 4X4, 2X4, and you can lock the differential if stuck. The XUV was a problem shifting initially but did loosen up as I put more and more hours on it. The winch (3000lbs) was a probem with the steel cable that kept clogging, but is fine now that I replaced it with synthetic cable. I also used silver backed bubble insulation material to put under the seats and the center console to reduce the engine heat that comes from the engine, of course I will remove it in the winter time as the heat is very much welcome in the cabin. I also replace the fenders as they were small and allowed mud to enter the gas tank and battery compartments. I used aluminum plates and it was easy to do. Will send pictures in the future. I also added protection for the radiator that I found quite exposed. I believe the XUV is sold as Gorrilla in the USA.
For all those that own Chinese vehicles don't give up, they are like the Japanese, thay are getting better.
